High Winds Postpone Sunday's Baseball Doubleheader at Niagara County CC

SANBORN, NY. -- Play was halted on Sunday due to high winds in game one of a doubleheader between the Lakers and Thunderwolves. Finger Lakes jumped out to an early 1-0 lead when the umpires pulled the players off the field in the top of the second inning. There would be a 45 minute delay until they decided to resume play. That would last for the final Laker hitter in the second and two Niagara batters in the bottom half before the umpires made the decision for good. There was a consistent strong wind throughout the day that caused havoc even during pregame batting practice. Peak gusts were recorded at 54 mph at nearby Niagara Falls Airport. A makeup date has not been scheduled.

The Lakers return to action on Tuesday at Jamestown CC. First pitch against the Jayhawks is scheduled for 3pm.
