Lakers to host MSAC member Corning at home on Sunday

CANANDAIGUA – The Lakers, after experiencing a pair of postponed doubleheaders this week, will return to action tomorrow as they are scheduled to host conference member Corning CC in a pair of games. Game one will begin at 1pm.

Finger Lakes, currently 7-15 (2-2 MSAC), last played on Tuesday at Jamestown CC. The Lakers, in a doubleheader with JCC, walked away with a split. They dropped the opener 4-3 before taking the nightcap 12-5. Corning will walk into play tomorrow supporting a 0-6 (0-4 MSAC) record.

The Lakers will enter Sunday coming off of a hot hitting game against Jamestown. In game two of their road doubleheader with the Jayhawks, Finger Lakes tallied 14 hits as a team. In its double-digit scoring effort, FLCC saw five of its players record two or more hits. Leading the hitting attack for the Lakers was centerfielder Joey Simmons. The talented freshman went 4 for 5 from the plate and was just a home run short of hitting for the cycle.

Finger Lakes will look to build upon its solid offensive game against JCC when it takes the field tomorrow. In 2012, the Lakers faced Corning four times, taking three of four games against the Red Barons. On Apr. 7, FLCC swept a road doubleheader with the Red Barons and later split a pair of games with them at home on May 1st.
