Eastman, Simmons, and Marren Honored by MSAC
CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. -- Two Finger Lakes Community College baseball players and head coach Sean Marren were honored by the Mid-State Athletic Conference today. Infielder Nate Eastman garnered Mid-State Athletic Conference Player of the Year honors, while teammate Joey Simmons received first team honors. Marren was named the conference's co-coach of the year.
After starting the season slow, Eastman rebounded in a major way. With two games remaining, the Oneonta, N.Y. native has batted .390 and has driven in a team-high 27 runs batted in. Eastman also leads the team with a .492 slugging percentage.
Simmons received first team honors for his all-around game. The Victor, N.Y. native has batted .368 in the lead-off spot, and is second on the team with 21 runs batted in. Simmons leads the team with five triples and 23 stolen bases. Simmons also made an impact with his glove: in just 91 total chances, the centerfielder committed just one error.
In his second season as manager, Marren has led the Lakers to a 21-26 record. The Victor, N.Y. native shares the award with Jefferson Community College head coach John Northrop.
