Lakers Head to No. 10 Herkimer County Community College on Saturday
CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. -- After winning twelve of their last sixteen games, the Finger Lakes Community College baseball team travels to Herkimer, N.Y. to square off with Herkimer County Community College in sub-regional play tomorrow. The first game of the best-of-three series will commence at 12p.m.
The Lakers and the Generals last met on March 15, 2012. The Lakers managed to take the first game from the Generals on the road, 8-7, but dropped the second game, 12-7. The Lakers and the Generals have met twelve times since 2007. The Generals have been victorious in eight of those twelve meetings.
Finger Lakes Community College enters sub-regional play with a 23-26 record. The Lakers earned the fourth seed in the Western Division by going 17-12 in regional play. Sophomore Joey Simmons leads the team with a .378 batting average. Simmons also leads the team with 65 hits. Southpaw Brandon Anderson leads the team with 8.92 punch outs per nine innings.
Herkimer County Community College finished the season 27-12. The Generals earned the Eastern Division's top seed by recording a 26-4 divisional record. Sophomore Ryan Watson leads the team with 39 hits. Watson also leads the team with a .424 batting average. Kyle Garrison leads the team with four wins on the mound.
