Lakers Baseball Splits with Conference Rival Onondaga

Canandaigua, NY -- The Finger Lakes Community College baseball team hosted the Lazers from Onondaga Community College in an NJCAA Region III double header match-up on Saturday, April 22.  The Laker split with the Lazers, winning game one 2-1 and dropping game two 5-4.

The Lakers came out victorious in game one of Saturday's double header, scoring their only two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning.  Mike Magnanti, Cody Cooper, Brett Otto, Chris Karem, and Trevor Bradshaw each had one hit for the Lakers.  Bradshaw drove in both runners.  Cole DuBois pitched a complete game for Finger Lakes.  He allowed only three hits and struck out eight batters. 

The Lakers came up just short in game two against the Lazers, falling by a score of 5-4.  They were ahead 4-2 going into the top of the seventh, but were unable to hold the Lazers at bay and gave up three runs.  Trevor Bradshaw finished 2-for-3 with one RBI and scored twice.  Matthew Carroll went 2-foe-2 with one run scored.  Mike Magnanti, Nick Ferrino, Chris Karem, Austin Teets, Brett Otto, and Chris Loven each had one hit for the Lakers.  Evan Pappalardo pitched five innings for Finger Lakes, allowing four hits and no earned runs.  

The Lakers will travel to Onondaga Community College tomorrow to face the Lazers in the final two game of their four game series.  The first pitch is scheduled for 1pm.
