The Finger Lakes Community College baseball team opened their season against Thomas Nelson Community College on Saturday, March 18. The Lakers dropped both games to the Gators to begin their annual spring break trip.
Game one ended in the fifth inning by a mercy rule, with the final score being 12-0. Ryan Richer would record the only hit for the Lakers, going 1-for-1. Paolo Gersonia pitched two innings and only allowed four earned runs. Mike Magnanti added double play for the Lakers, while Chris Lovin finished with a stolen base.
The Lakers showed signs of improvement for game two, finishing with a 6-5 loss to the Gators. Mike Magnanti went 1-for-3, bringing in two RBI's for the Lakers. Cody Cooper finished with one double, going 2-for-4 from the plate. Trevor Bradshaw went 1-for-3 scoring two runs. Stephen Fredendall pitched three innings for the Lakers, allowing two hits and no runs.
Next up the Lakers will challenge Hudson Valley Community College at Myrtle Beach, SC. The first pitch is scheduled for Sunday night at 8:30 pm.
