The Lakers baseball team got swept to Prince George COmmunity College in their double header match-up on Saturday, March 25. They are now 3-10 on the season following the double header loss.
The Lakers got hot early in game one, scoring three unanswered runs in the first two innings. However, Prince George would go on to score five runs in each of the following innings. The Lakers would score two additional runs, but would ultimately get mercy ruled in the fifth inning by a score of 15-5.
Chris Lovin, Mike Magnanti, Cody Cooper, and Austin Teets each finished with two hits. Magnanti and Cooper had one RBI apiece. Trevor Bradshaw had one hit and one RBI for the Lakers. Cole DuBois pitched three innings, allowing 11 hits and eight earned runs.
In Game two, the Lakers were held scoreless until the fourth inning where they scored three runs. Prince George CC, already with one run, would score four additional runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. The Lakers would fall to Prince George CC 5-3 in seven innings.
Mike Mqgnanti finished a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate and scored once for the Lakers. Cody Cooper hit a double with brought in a run. Trevor Bradshaw and Matthew Carroll each had one hit apiece. Paolo Gersonia pitched four innings for the Lakers. He faced 21 batters, allowing six hits and four earned runs while striking out three.
Following today's double header, the Lakers will return home from their spring break trip. They will begin their regional play on Saturday, April 1 when they host the Red Barons from Corning Community College in a double header. Game one is scheduled to begin at 1:00pm.
