Canandaigua, NY – Mike Magnanti (Rochester, N.Y./Greece Athena), a two-year standout on the Finger Lakes Community College (FLCC) baseball team, signed his letter of intent to play baseball for Division I St. Bonaventure University of the Atlantic 10 Conference.

Magnanti, a sophomore, will transfer to the Bonnies beginning in the fall of 2017. During a decorated two-year career with the Lakers, Magnanti, a shortstop, is batting .465 (119-for-256) with 97 runs scored, 46 RBI, and 35 stolen bases.

“Mike has been a blessing to our program.  He has worked very hard in the classroom, in the weight room, and on the field,” said Sean Marren, FLCC’s sixth-year head coach.

“I’m very happy to see his hard work pay off and I look forward to seeing him continue to progress both on and off the field next year at St. Bonaventure.”

In his first season with the Lakers, Magnanti led the team with a .473 batting average, accumulating 86 hits in 182 at bats while sparking an offense that hit .345 as a team. Magnanti was second on the team in stolen bases (28), earning NJCAA Second-Team All-American honors.

Magnanti also garnered NJCAA First-Team All-Region honors and was named the Mid-State Athletic Conference (MSAC) Player of the Year for the Lakers, who won a school-record 40 games while earning an appearance in the Region III tournament.

Magnanti also received the Marucci Elite Hitter award during his rookie season with the Lakers.

During the 2017 season, Magnanti once again is leading the team in batting average (.446) with 33 hits in 74 at-bats through 22 games.

Magnanti has plated 14 runs (second-most on the squad), and he leads FLCC in runs (20), hits (33), and stolen bases (7).

Before coming to FLCC, Magnanti earned First-Team All-Monroe County honors during both his junior and senior seasons at Greece Athena High School under the tutelage of veteran head coach Jason Bunting. During his senior season at Athena, Magnanti’s strong play earned him Honorable Mention All-Greater Rochester honors.

Mike is the son of Paul and Sue Magnanti, who currently reside in Rochester, N.Y.
