Lakers Experience Tough Shooting Night in Road Loss at Onondaga
SYRACUSE, NY. – Trailing 76-73 with a few seconds remaining on the clock in the second half, Finger Lakes Community College (6-14) freshman sensation Sean Carbonell (Irondequoit, NY) had a chance to tie tonight's game against Onondaga Community College on the road with a three-point look. Needless to say, the attempt did not go in, leaving the Lakers short of victory. Onondaga tacked on a pair of free-throws to secure a 78-73 home win.
FLCC experienced a tough shooting night, shooting 37 percent from the field and 11 percent from beyond the arc. Despite their shooting woes, the Lakers received double-digit scoring efforts from Carbonell, freshman guard Nic Cesar (Brooklyn, NY) and sophomore forward Cody Sarkis (Greece, NY).
Carbonell finished the night with 23 points and 8 rebounds. Cesar played a rounded game by scoring 15 points while delivering 9 rebounds and 3 steals on the defensive end of the court. Sarkis contributed into the offense by scoring 14 points off 6 of 12 shooting from the field. He also added a staggering 16 rebounds in the losing effort.
FLCC will conclude its three-game road trip this Saturday (1/28) when it takes on Tompkins-Cortland Community College at 3:00 p.m.
