Men's Basketball Defeats Corning CC in MSAC Semifinals

The Finger Lakes Community College men's basketball team defeated the Red Barons from Corning Community College on Friday, February 24 in the Mid-State Athletic Conference semifinals, hosted by Onondaga Community College. The 53-52 slug fest with Corning will take the Lakers to the MSAC Championship round.

The Lakers escaped with a slim victory on Friday night, as their 29-24 lead at the half was just enough.  After being outscored 28-24 in the second half, one point was all that seperated the Lakers from their opponent and is what will take them to the championship.

Sophomore Shabazz Mosley led the Lakers with a double double, including 17 points and 11 rebounds.  Jonathan Range, the MSAC player of the year, also finished Friday's contest with a double double, including 13 points and 12 rebounds.  Jay Scarbrough was the third Laker to have a double double against the Red Barons.  He finished with 11 points and 11 rebounds.

The Lakers will compete against the Lazers from Onondaga Community College in the Mid-State Athletic Conference Championships tonight at 4pm. The game will be held at the OCC campus.
