Lacrosse – Lakers Win At Home In Dominant Fashion Over Jefferson
CANANDAIGUA, NY. – The Finger Lakes Community College Lakers (3-3, 1-0 MSAC) defeated Jefferson Community College today at home, 14-5. Today's win for the Lakers came via a stellar all around performance on both the offensive and defensive ends of the field. Finger Lakes also received solid goaltending efforts in the victory. Offensively, Finger Lakes had four player's record games that consisted of reaching or surpassing three-point afternoons in the scoring column. Defensively, the Lakers played aggressively all game long, keeping Jefferson in check with their hustle and determination. In goal, freshman John Perrucci (Myrtle Beach, SC) notched 15 saves and allowed just 5 goals in 60 minutes worth of action.
Leading the way for Finger Lakes in the scoring department today was freshman midfielder Jack Timerson (Newark, NY). Timerson scored a game-high 5 goals and handed out a pair of assists in the win. He now has 11 goals and 8 assists in 6 games played in 2012.
Lakers freshman midfielder Albert Thompson (Medina, NY) was right behind Timerson in the scoring column this afternoon. Thompson finished the game with 5 points by registering 3 goals and distributing 2 assists.
Finger Lakes sophomore attackmen Steve Campaniello (Rochester, NY) and Joshua Taylor (Calgary, AB Canada) also contributed solid scoring efforts. Campaniello tallied 1 goal and dished out 3 assists. Taylor found the back of the net three times today. His 3-goal effort now gives him a total of 14 on the season (in 6 games played) and puts him atop of the list for most goals scored on the team for 2012.
Lakers freshmen midfielders Corey Roed (Inner Grove Heights, MN) and Tom Loudon (Overland Park, KS) each poured in one goal apiece.
Finger Lakes freshman midfielder Alex Thoms (Newark, NY) and sophomore defender Chris Tauterouff (Canandaigua, NY) each added one assist apiece in the win.
Finger Lakes will be back on the field on Monday (3/19) when they take on Mohawk Valley Community College. The game will be played at Utica Proctor High School and is slated to begin at 7:00 pm.
