Lacrosse - Taylor Leads Lakers To Victory, Now Leads Nation In Goals Scored
SANBORN, NY. – Sophomore attackman Joshua Taylor (Calgary, AB Canada) notched a breakout game this afternoon with a 7-goal performance in what was a dominating road win for the Finger Lakes Community College Lakers (5-4, 2-0 MSAC, 3-2 Region III) over the Niagara County Community College Thunderwolves. The Lakers defeated the Thunderwolves, 16-8. Taylor's entourage of goals supplanted him into first place in the nation* in total goals scored. He now has 29 goals on the season, putting him three ahead of Andy Thrasher, a Community College of Baltimore County (at Essex) attackman.
Aside from Taylor's successes this afternoon, Finger Lakes also received stellar games out of the likes of Cale Giese (attack, freshman, Kamloops, BC Canada), Steve Campaniello (attack, sophomore, Rochester, NY), Jack Timerson (midfield, freshman, Newark, NY), and Albert Thompson (midfield, freshman, Medina, NY).
Giese tallied a 6-point game by delivering 3 goals and 3 assists for the Lakers.
Campaniello poured in a 5-point effort by contributing 1 goal and 4 assists in the winning effort. Campaniello's 4 assist game moved him into fourth place in the nation in total assists. He now has 18 assists on the season.
Timerson, like Giese, also provided Finger Lakes with 3 goals today. His 3-goal game now gives him 17 on the season.
Thompson was on the passing end of 3 goals today for the Lakers. He finished the game with 3 assists. Thompson currently stands ninth in the nation in total assists with 14.
Rob Pelkey (Fairport, NY) and Corey Roed (Inner Grove Heights, MN), a pair of freshmen midfielders, each scored 1 goal apiece for Finger Lakes. Along with his goal scored, Pelkey also added an assist in the win.
Kyle Eckam (freshman, Rochester, NY), one of the Lakers premier defenders, rounded out the team's scoring table today by recording an assist.
In goal, John Perrucci (Myrtle Beach, SC) registered a solid game for Finger Lakes by grabbing 11 saves in 57 minutes worth of action. Perrucci is currently second in the nation in total saves with 141 on the season.
The Lakers will now return home for their next game. They will take on Herkimer County Community College on Saturday (3/31) at 1:00 pm.
