Timerson’s Seven Goals Leads Lakers to Home Victory over Mohawk Valley

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. – Both Parker Weeks and Jack Timerson recorded eight-point performances yesterday, as the Finger Lakes CC men's lacrosse team defeated Mohawk Valley CC 23-3 at Laker Lacrosse Field.
Timerson posted a career-high seven goals. The seven scores inch Timerson closer to the nation's lead, as he currently ranks second amongst NJCAA scorers with 32 goals. Weeks doled out a career-high seven assists. The seven assists mark the most assists in an individual game amongst conference scorers this season.
Freshman Daniel Johnson won just 6-of-9 draws in the first half, but was successful on 12-of-14 attempts in the second half. Defenseman Cullen Smith recorded a game-high 11 ground balls. Timerson, in addition to his scoring, caused two turnovers on the afternoon.
Lawrence Jock led the Hawks with two goals. Colby King-Jenkins and Shane Joswick each contributed one point on an assist and a goal respectively.
Weeks opened the scoring at 12:23 for the Lakers. Timerson would follow his lead, notching the game's second goal roughly two minutes later. After a Mohawk tally, Timerson scored twice more to give the Lakers a 4-1 lead to end the first quarter.
The Lakers (3-6) held the Hawks scoreless in the second, while posting seven goals of their own. Of the seven, sophomore Robert Pelkey added two, and sophomore Albert Thompson added another. Pelkey finished the day with six points on four goals and two assists, while Thompson finished the day with three points on two goals and an assist.
Finger Lakes entered halftime with an 11-1 lead. The Lakers would continue the offensive momentum at the inception of the third quarter, as Joshua Spence and Timerson posted tallies prior to a Lawrence Jock goal at the 3:17 mark that ended the streak of nine unanswered goals.
Finger Lakes would score the game's final eight goals to close out the contest. In the process, Ken Ledgerwood and Corey Roed notched one goal apiece, while Eric Bidwell recorded his first career goal. Sophomore Thomas Loudon added his third goal of the season on a feed from Bidwell, while sophomore Alex Thoms added his first goal of the season.
Lakers starting goalie John Perrucci notched 13 saves in net for the hosts. Matthew Ebanez and Nathan Gardner, in relief roles, recorded three saves and five saves respectively for Finger Lakes.
Evan Thompson finished with 25 saves for the Hawks.
Mohawk (0-4) went 1-of-13 with the man advantage, while the Lakers converted on just 1-of-3 opportunities.
Finger Lakes will return home on Saturday, Mar. 30, to host Niagara County CC. The opening faceoff is scheduled for 1p.m.
