Lakers Enter Monday in Search of Eighth Straight Win
CANANDAIGUA – The Lakers, after improving to 9-6 over the weekend, will return to the field on Monday where they will take on conference member Cayuga CC beginning at 4 pm. Finger Lakes will enter play carrying a seven-game winning streak. The Lakers, who are 3-1 in MSAC play, are coming off of a 16-9 road conference win over Broome CC on Saturday. The Spartans will take the field today carrying a 4-6 (1-3 MSAC) record.
Finger Lakes and Cayuga met once during the 2012 season on the Lakers field. On Mar. 21 of last year, the Lakers downed the Spartans at home by the score of 13-5. In the win, then freshman Jack Timerson contributed two goals and three assists while John Perrucci netted 14 saves as the winning goaltender.
Finger Lakes, during its current win streak, has held each of its opponents to nine goals or less. In the seven wins, it has registered double-digit goal totals in each game. Three of the seven wins during the streak have come at home while the remaining four came on the road.
Over his last seven games, Timerson, the nation's leading goal scorer, has totaled 39 goals and 18 assists. Following him over that stretch of lacrosse with 29 goals and 13 assists is Robert Pelkey. The Lakers, over the 7-0 run, have also received solid production from Parker Weeks. The sophomore has tallied 12 goals and 29 assists. Weeks assist total currently ranks second in the nation.
Standing in net for Finger Lakes during the streak and throughout the season with the starting role has been Perrucci. In his last seven contests, the Myrtle Beach, SC resident has amassed 66 saves.
