Twelve Lakers honored by Region III; Timerson nabs top honors
HERKIMER, N.Y. -- Twelve Finger Lakes Community College men's lacrosse players were honored by Region III on Saturday. Sophomore Jack Timerson garnered first team honors, freshman defenseman Jake Smith captured second team honors and Parker Weeks, Robert Pelkey, Albert Thompson, Brandon Grace, Alex Thoms, John Perrucci, Cullen Smith, David Milliman, Kyle Grove, and Thomas Loudon earned honorable mentions.
Timerson contributed a team-high 82 goals and 123 points. The Newark, N.Y. native holds the Finger Lakes Community College men's lacrosse career record for goals (110) and points (180).
Jake Smith contributed a team-high 81 ground balls. He ranked second on the team with seven caused turnovers, and was just one of the team's two defenders to score a goal this season.
Weeks and Pelkey helped anchor one of the nation's top attack units. Weeks added a Finger Lakes Community College individual season record 48 assists, while Pelkey contributed a career-high 91 points on 66 goals and 25 assists.
Thompson and Loudon each set career-highs for goals and points this season; Thompson notched 48 points on 23 goals and 25 assists, while Loudon added 20 points on 18 goals and two assists.
Thoms served as one of the team's top defensive midfielders. The Newark, N.Y. native collected 22 ground balls, while causing six turnovers.
Grace led the nation with 249 victories at the faceoff X. The Penn Yan, N.Y. native also contributed eight points on three goals and five assists.
Smith, Milliman, and Grove helped anchor a defense that only allowed 11.7 goals per contest; a mark that ranked thirteenth in the nation. Smith ranked second on the team with 79 ground balls, while Milliman led the team with nine caused turnovers.
Perrucci played a nation-best 1033:42 in goal this season. Over the duration, the Myrtle Beach, S.C. native recorded a nation-best 11 victories and 304 saves.
Finger Lakes Community College was a program-best 11-10 this season. The Lakers went 10-5 in contests against Region III teams during the regular season before falling to regional opponent SUNY Delhi in sub-regional play.
