Men's Lacrosse Pulls out Narrow Victory Over Broome

The Finger Lakes Community College men's lacrosse team pulled off a narrow victory over SUNY Broome Community College on Sunday, April 2.  With a final score of 13-12, the Lakers improve to 2-2 on the season and 1-0 in the Mid-State Athletic Conference.  

The Lakers got out to an early lead, leading the Hornets 4-2 at the end of the first quarter.  Both teams would give up four goals apiece in the second quarter as the Lakers would enter halftime ahead 8-6.  The Hornets would rally back in the third quarter, scoring five goals against the Lakers. The score would be tied 11 apiece at the start of the final quarter.  The Lakers would outscore the Hornets 2-1 in the fourth quarter to escape with a narrow victory.  

Freshman Tate Stewart led the Lakers with five goals and one assist against the Hornets.  Alex Chiara finished with three goals and two assists.  Austin Andryshak and Ethan Bakogiannis had two goals and one assists apiece.  Josh Zugnoni had one goal and two assists for the Lakers, while Zakk Mount had three assists.  Zugnoni also went 13-29 at faceoffs.  Ethan Lincoln started in goal for the Lakers, recording 12 saves against the Hornets.  

The Lakers will travel to Monroe Community College on Wednesday, April 5 to face the Tribunes in a Region III match-up. The contest is scheduled to begin at 4pm.
