Men’s Soccer – Lakers Fall to Hudson, Lose Third Straight Game by a Goal
TROY, NY. – The Lakers dropped their third consecutive game on Saturday (9/1) in what was their first road game of 2012. The loss equaled the third game in a row in which Finger Lakes has fallen to its opponent by a mere one goal.
The team responsible for taking down the Lakers (0-3-1) over the weekend was Hudson Valley CC – 1-0. In a battle of the defenses, it was Hudson who defended their own ground in the win. The hosts kept Finger Lakes offense in check all afternoon thanks to their solid play on D.
The loan goal of the game came in the 10th minute. After Hudson's goal, if you are a fan of defense and close knit games, the remainder of this contest fit to your liking. Both teams, needless to say, went on to shutout one another for the final 80 minutes of Saturday's meeting.
In this game, it would be unfair to state the outcome, despite Finger Lakes falling, without mentioning the solid play of Lakers starting goaltender Shane Bly. The captain and sophomore out of Rochester, NY, used his athleticism and goaltending abilities to keep four of Hudson's shots from entering the back of the net.
Finger Lakes, still in search of its first win on the young season; will look to get off the snide tomorrow when it heads to Broome CC for a 5:00 p.m. road contest.
