ORCHARD PARK, NY -- The Finger Lakes Men's Soccer team fell to Erie Community College 3-1 on Wednesday. The game was the first of the Region 3 West Standardized Schedule, so the Lakers are now 0-1 in regional play. Overall on the season, Finger Lakes is 0-4-3.
Sophomore captain Ryan Haines helped get the Lakers on the board. He would send a free-kick in that found the head of Christopher Shea. Shea, a sophomore, headed it into the back of the net for his first collegiate goal. It was the first assist for Haines on the year. He leads the team in points with three. Brian Arcara was in goal for the Lakers and stopped 13 of Erie's 16 shots.
The Lakers return home for a pair of games this week before returning to regional play next weekend. On Sunday, Finger Lakes will host the Bobcats of Bryant and Stratton. Kickoff is scheduled for 1pm. They will then host Mohawk Valley CC for a 4pm game on Wednesday, September 18.
