FLCC Men's Soccer was defeated by Cayuga Community College last night by a score of 6-1. The Lakers now fall to 1-10 on the Season.
Cayuga Started the game firing as they scored three times within the first 25 minutes of play. The Lakers finally switched on soon after and played great defense to finish the half without giving up any more goals to Spartans. It would be Cayuga up 3-0 going into halftime.
The second half started with Cayuga scoring their fourth. The only Laker goal came soon after closing the gap to 4-1. Jeremiah Johnson took a free kick from the top of the box, hitting the ball off the far post for the goal. The Lakers continued their pressure on Cayuga but were unable to comeback. The Spartans would score 2 more before the final whistle. The final score would be 6-1 Cayuga.
"The team is improving every game and showed a resilience tonight that will soon pay off for them. We're proud that they fought back and never gave up. Jeremiah really stepped up tonight and gave it his all to keep the team in the game, including a world class free kick goal. We hope to build off some positive play to take some momentum into the next conference matchup Wednesday." -Assistant Coach, Chris Maxwell.
The Lakers will be at home tomorrow afternoon as they host the visiting Cannoneers from Jefferson Community College. The game is set to begin at 3pm.
