JAMESTOWN, N.Y. – The Finger Lakes Community College Men’s Soccer team gained an away win against the Jamestown Community College Jayhawks on Wednesday. The Lakers beat the Jayhawks 2-1.
This was a need win for the Lakers. They had just come off of a loss against Onondaga Community College last Saturday. They were looking for a win to improve their record after that. The first half of the game went to the Lakers. Although the Jayhawks out-shot the Lakers 11-5, Laker’s Felipe Gonzalez made his shot count.
The second half made itself more interesting. Ten minutes into the second half, the Jayhawks score their first goal of the game. Jackson Rybicki scored unassisted for Jamestown. The Lakers were not looking for another loss so they gave it all they had and pulled ahead. Samuel Johnson scored his first goal of the season, bringing the Lakers to their 2-1 final score. Johnson was assisted by Noah Fisher.
Game leaders for the Lakers were Gonzalez with 1 goal and 5 shots, Johnson with 1 goal, Fisher with 1 assist, and goal keeper Brayden Kane with 9 saves.
The Lakers travel to Cayuga Community College this Saturday, September 23rd. They will play at 6:00pm. FLCC looks to bring their record to an even 5-5.
