CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. – The Finger Lakes Community College Men’s Soccer team won against Roberts Wesleyan College JV this past Saturday. The Lakers won 1-0 on a penalty kick goal.
The Lakers came out strong on Saturday. They were on offense for the majority of the game. The first half was scoreless, but not for lack of trying. The Lakers had recorded 17 shots in the first half. The Redhawks only recorded one of their two shots in the first half.
The second half was where the Lakers finally pushed ahead. A Redhawk defender had a handball in the box 14:28 in the first half. This gave the Lakers a penalty shot. Derek McArthur took the shot, and scored. This was McArthur’s second goal of the season. Later on in the second half, FLCC’s Valentino Cole had a shot to make the game 2-0. Redhawk goalie, Michael Mingo, came out of the goal and Cole shot and hit the post.
The Lakers play next at home on Wednesday, September 13. They will face Mohawk Valley Community College. The game will start at 5:00pm after the women’s game.
