Cross Country – FLCC Men & Women Both Place 2nd in Season’s First Meet

ALFRED, NY. – The Finger Lakes CC men and women's team competed in the Alfred State Invitational over the weekend. The meet marked the first of the season for the visitors.

On Saturday (9/8), both the men and women's divisions raced their ways to 2nd place finishes on what was a rainy afternoon. The men had to endure a rain-soaked 8k course while the women had to deal with the challenges of running on a saturated 5k path.

Heading the men's side on the dreary day with his 9th place finish was that of sophomore Jason Woodard.

Following Woodard's footsteps was teammate Joshua Corey. Corey snuck in behind him with a 10th place showing in the season opening meet.

Sam Muzingo was next in line behind Woodard and Corey. He finished the Invitational 11th.

Brandon Smith and Jesse Martinez both rounded out the scoring for the men's division by finishing 14th and 15th respectively.

On the women's side, freshmen Alaina Bailey and Caitlin Drennan came away with 7th and 9th place finishes respectively in what was the first race of their collegiate careers.

Finger Lakes will partake in its next meet this coming Saturday (9/15) on its own grounds when it hosts the Bruce Bridgman Invitational. The Invitational is slated to start at 11:00 a.m.
