CANANDAIGUA -- The Finger Lakes Men's Cross Country team finished 5th at the Bruce Bridgeman Invitational. The meet was hosted by Finger Lakes and involved a 5 mile loop around the scenic campus.
Connor Lucas continued his strong freshman start finishing 7th with a time of 29:53. It was the second straight top 10 for Lucas. He was backed up by Kevin Schoonmaker with a time of 31:37, good for 17th place. The next Laker runners to cross the line were grouped together. Greg Desilva (34:17), Brandon Smith (35:03), John-Michael Rhodes (35:17), and John Guzzardi (36:04) finished 31st, 32nd, 33rd, and 35th respectively. Keith Baley rounded out the Lakers team running the course in 39:33, finishing 42nd. Matt Brooks from Mohawk Valley won the individual race with a time of 28:52. Brooks' finish, combined with three other Hawks finishing in the top 10, led Mohawk Valley to the team title as well.
Finger Lakes will run again next weekend at Houghton College. The Highlander Invitational will take place on Saturday, September 21st, starting at 11am.
