HOUGHTON, NY -- The Finger Lakes Cross Country team completed in their first event of the season on Friday at Houghton College. The Houghton Short Course Invitational was a 5k run for the men and 3200M run for the women. The Men's team finished 4th in the meet.
Chuck Collins made an instant impact for the Lakers. Running in his first cross country meet, the Geneva native ran the 5k in 16:35.70. He finished the race in a sprint for the line with Evan Magnussen, a senior from St. John Fisher College, who crossed at 16:34.20. Finger Lakes was the only two year school at the meet. Connor Lucas finished 20th for FLCC. Rounding out the Men's scoring for the Lakers was Adam Morrison (31st), Colin Delgado (38th), and Tim Quirk (42nd).
The Lakers sole enterant in the Women's race was Rebecca Manwaring. She finished the meet in 13:41 good for 18th place out of 37 runners.
The Lakers will travel to Syracuse next weekend to run in the LeMoyne Alumni Invitational.
