CANANDAIGUA -- Chuck Collins won the 2014 Bruce Bridgman Invitational with a time of 28:00.5 Friday evening on the campus of Finger Lakes Community College. As a team, the Men's side finished 6th out of 7 scoring teams.
The Bridgman result was Collin's first win of the season. He has previously finished 2nd and 3rd in earlier races. He is the second runner in school history to win the Bruce Bridgman, joining Jordan Merritt in 2011. Collins also broke the school record for fastest time in the Finger Lakes/Bruce Bridgman Invitational by five seconds. The previous mark was set in 1993 by John Loncz.
Colin Delgado and Adam Morrison finished side by side for the Lakers. They crossed in 32:46.4 and 32:47.6, respectively. Max Curren finished in 41st place with a time of 34.49.4. Tim Quirk rounded out the Lakers team with a time of 38:25.4, finishing 51st.
The race marked the first time the Lakers ran at the full 8K distance this season. They will return to action next Saturday as they travel to Houghton College to run in the Highlander Invitational.
