Softball - Lady Lakers Fall In Season Opener to Massasoit
MYRTLE BEACH, SC. – The Finger Lakes Community College Lady Lakers fell to Massasoit Community College (of Massachusetts) today in their 2012 season opener by a score of 8-4. The game, which was played at a neutral site (Myrtle Beach, South Carolina), was the first of eight games that the Lady Lakers will be playing down south over the length of this week.
Finger Lakes took a few positives out of today's loss. First year starting pitcher Joelle Robards (Hornell, NY) threw 6 solid innings on the mound for the Lady Lakers. On the morning, she struck out 8 batters while allowing just 3 walks.
Offensively, the Lady Lakers received a promising day from the plate out of freshman catcher Nicole Taylor (Shortsville, NY). Taylor finished the game going 2 for 3.
Sophomore centerfielder Sarah Roza (Rochester, NY) added 1 hit and 1 RBI for Finger Lakes in the losing effort.
