Softball – Lady Lakers Split Home Season Opening Doubleheader With Broome

CANANDAIGUA, NY. – The Finger Lakes Community College Lady Lakers split their home season opening doubleheader this afternoon with the Broome Community College Lady Hornets. The Lady Hornets took game one, 7-3. The Lady Lakers rebounded in game two with an 11-5 win.

In a losing effort in game one, Finger Lakes was highlighted by the play of freshmen Nicole Taylor (Shortsville, NY) and Ashley Sheesley (Lowman, NY). Taylor and Sheesley each registered two hits apiece. Both freshmen finished the game by going 2 for 3 from the plate. Sarah Roza (Rochester, NY) added a double for the Lady Lakers in the loss.

In game two, Taylor recorded a perfect 3 for 3 performance with her bat and was joined by teammates Jeri Baker (Harrisville, NY) and Amalia Dolley (Horseheads, NY) in the 3-hit department. Baker's 3-hit game included a double, triple, 4 RBI's and 2 runs scored. She finished the game by going 3 for 4 from the dish. Dolley's 3-hit attack included a pair of RBI's. She finished the game by going 3 for 5 from the plate.

With the game two victory, the Lady Lakers have now won three out of their last four games. They will now head to Herkimer, NY this Saturday (4/7) to take on the #10 nationally ranked* Herkimer County Community College Lady Generals. The first pitch of game one is slated to be thrown at 1:00 pm.
