Lady Lakers to play Erie and Clinton in weekend ahead
CANANDAIGUA – The Lady Lakers, coming off of a home doubleheader with Genesee CC this week, will return to action tomorrow as they are set to play at Erie CC for a pair of contests. Game one on Saturday is expected to begin at 1 pm. After traveling to Erie's campus, Finger Lakes will return home on Sunday for an afternoon pairing with Clinton CC. It will take on the Cougars of Clinton CC twice. First pitch on Sunday will be thrown at 1:30 pm.
The Lady Lakers will enter the weekend with a 3-11 record. Fresh off of a split with GCC this past Tuesday at home, Finger Lakes will look to build itself some momentum in the wins column on Saturday before returning home on Sunday. In the nightcap against GCC, the Lady Lakers received a complete game seven-hitter from Elaina Evinsky. The freshman led Finger Lakes to a 3-1 win by striking out eight while allowing just one walk and one earned run.
Erie will enter play wearing a 4-6 record while Clinton will come into Canandaigua on Sunday with a record of 0-6.
The Lady Lakers, on the season, are hitting .305 as a team. Leading the team in hitting with a .407 batting average is Katie Plummer. Following the freshman in hitting are Tamara Robertson, Samantha German, and Rachel Mertens.
Robertson is currently sitting on a .393 batting average while German and Mertens are hitting .372 and .366 respectively. In addition to her average, German leads the team in home runs (3) and RBI's (9).
In the pitching department, Mertens 3.73 ERA has led Finger Lakes. The current wins leader for the team is Evinsky. With her victory on Tuesday, she now stands at 2-2 on the season.
