Lakers Travel to Hudson Valley Community College
CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. -- The Finger Lakes Community College softball team travels to Troy, N.Y. this afternoon to square off with Hudson Valley Community College. The first pitch of the doubleheader is scheduled for 3p.m.
The Lakers enter this afternoon's doubleheader having won four of their last five contests. The recent streak has bolstered the overall record to 13 wins and 21 losses. Freshman Rachel Mertens leads the team with 107.0 innings pitched. The Syracuse, N.Y. native also leads the team in earned run average (2.88) and punch outs (102). Freshman Katie Plummer leads the Lakers at the plate with a .391 batting average in 69 at-bats.
Hudson Valley Community College enters this afternoon's doubleheader with a record of seven wins and 11 losses. Freshman Maggie Miller leads the Vikings on the mound with four wins and a 3.12 earned run average. Emily Johnson leads the team a .510 batting average in 51 at-bats.
