Mertens Makes All-MSAC Team

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. -- Pitcher Rachel Mertens was named to the Mid-State Athletic Conference Team, the conference announced this morning. Mertens is the only selection for the team from the Finger Lakes Community College softball team.

On the mound, Mertens recorded six wins. In addition to her six wins, Mertens punched out 109 batters, a mark that ranked sixth amongst fellow pitchers within the NJCAA. Mertens also ranked eighth in the NJCAA with 121.1 innings pitched.

In the past three seasons, the Lakers have had two players tabbed to the team. In addition to Mertens, outfielder Cassidy Smyers made the team in 2012.
