Freshman Jenna Theilen (Arkport, N.Y./Arkport) drove in a career-high nine runs during a doubleheader sweep of Jefferson Community College on Sunday, part of a week where she hit .529 (16-for-29) for the Finger Lakes Community College softball team.
On Tuesday, Theilen, a catcher, was honored by the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) as the Region III softball co-Athlete of the Week.
Theilen drove in a run in six of the eight games on the week and extended her hitting streak to 11 games for the Lakers (6-18, 6-12 Region III).
She had four hits, drove in four runs, and scored three runs in a split against Tompkins Cortland Community College to start the week.
Taking on Monroe Community College, Theilen was 2-for-7, before saving her best for a pair of sweeps against SUNY Broome CC and Jefferson CC.
Theilen went 4-for-5 with five RBI and four runs scored against Broome, and she was 5-for-7 with nine RBI and five runs scored vs. Jefferson CC.
Theilen leads the Lakers in base hits (31) and is second on the team in batting average (.392), RBI (20), runs scored (20), doubles (6), and triples (3),
The Lakers host Hudson Valley Community College (Thursday) and Genesee Community College (Saturday) before closing out the regular season at Erie Community College (Sunday).
