Canandaigua, NY -- The Finger Lakes Community College softball team battled Collumbia-Greene Community College in a Region III double header contest on Friday, April 14. The Lady Lakers were swept by the Twins 4-2 and 9-6.
Game one of Friday's double header remained scoreless through four innings. Both teams gave up two runs in the fifth inning. The Lakers would give up two more runs to the Twins in the sixth inning. The Twins would take game one 4-2 over the Lakers.
Michaela Anderson went 3-for-4 with one RBI against the Twins. Peyton Wyjad finished with two hits, including a double, and an RBI. Maddy Joseph, Caitlin Murney, and Jessica Williams each had one hit apiece. Anna Dickens pitched a complete game for the Lakers, allowing 10 hits after facing 33 batters.
In game two, the Lakers jumped out to an early 2-1 lead after the first inning. However, the Twins would score three more runs by the end of the third while holding the Lakers with one. Both teams gave up three runs apiece in the fourth inning. The Lakers would score one run in the bottom of the fifth to close the gab to 7-6. The Twins would cap off a 9-2 victory after scoring their final two runs in the sixth inning.
Jessica Williams finished 3-for-5, including a double, with two RBI's. Jenna Theilen went 2-for-4, scoring twice for the Lakers. Madison Joseph and Michaela Anderson each had one RBI apiece. Williams pitched four innings for the Lakers. She allowed three earned runs after facing 24 batters.
The Lady Lakers will travel to Cayuga Community College to battle the Spartans in a MSAC double header. Game one is scheduled to begin at 1pm.
