Lakers Drop Season Opener to Tribunes

The Finger Lakes Community College Women's Basketball team faced Monroe Community College last night in their season opener.  The Tribunes were the superior team in last nights contest as they defeated the Lakers by a score of 82-49.

The Tribunes would score the first 6 points of the match.  Atoria Elem made two free throws to give the Lakers their first points of the match.  Monroe would then go on a 28-10 run over an 8 minute stretch in the first quarter to take control of the game.  Monroe carried a 34-12 lead into the second quarter.

The second quarter was much of the same story.  The Tribunes would continue to widen the gap as they held the Lakers to just one basket that came with 43 seconds remaining in the 2nd.  The Lakers would go into half down 51-15.

The third quarter was the best for the Lakers as they scored 21 points in 10 minutes.  Howeever, Monroe would continue to pile on the points.  At the end of the third the score was 76-36 in favor of the Tribunes.  

The Lakers would finish the fourth quarter scoring 13 more points while holding Monroe to just 6 points.  The Tribunes would ultimately win last nights contest by a final score of 82-49.  Krystal Hunter led the Lakers in points with 10 for the night.  

The Lakers will return to action this Sunday, 11/8 for their home opener against SUNY Delhi.  Tipoff is set for 2pm.
