The Lady Lakers Suffer Loss to Cougars

The Finger Lakes Community College Women's Basketball team suffered a loss to the Cougars from Genesee Community College on Tuesday, February 21. The Cougars defeated the Lakers 61-56 in the regional match-up.

The Lady Lakers tied up the game at the start of the second quarter 15-15. The Cougars led 29-15 with four minutes remaining in the second quarter, going on a 14 point run to escape the Lakers clutch. The Lady Lakers would make a return later in the fourth quarter tying the score up 49-49 with six minutes remaining. However, the Cougars finished on a 12-7 run to clinch victory.

Ranaveya Richards led the Lakers with 25 points, five steals, and six rebounds. Janae Brannon finished with a double-double, adding 10 points and 14 rebounds. Megan Howell added 10 points, six steals, and five rebounds for the Lady Lakers.

The Lady Lakers will compete against the Corning Red Barons in the Mid-State Athletic Conference Quarterfinals this Saturday, February 25. Upon their last encounter with the Red Barons, the Lady Lakers claimed a 73-68 victory in a double overtime battle.
