Women's Soccer -- FLCC Collects Home Win over North Country, 7-2
CANANDAIGUA – The #2 nationally ranked Lady Lakers took on a promising team yesterday in North Country CC at home – in what was their latest contest. On a wet and soggy afternoon in Canandaigua, FLCC (12-0-1, 3-0 MSAC) collected their 12th win of 2012 by taking down the Lady Saints – 7-2.
A pair of Lady Laker sophomores – Hannah Dalle and Cayli Carmona, highlighted Sunday's meeting. On the afternoon, Dalle, a day after delivering a hat trick of goals in an FLCC victory over SUNY Delhi, was busy delivering just that – another hat trick of goals. The 3 goals were her 14th, 15th, and 16th of the season. Dalle also tacked on one assist to go along with her helpers.
Carmona found the goal-scoring column once all while being on the passing end of 4 assists. With her solid offensive performance, she remains atop of the nation in scoring with 70 points (23 goals and 24 assists).
The other trio of FLCC goals were had (one each) by Rebecca Giacapuzzi, Emily Stritzel and Paige Smith.
The Lady Saints, who put forth a great effort on the pitch yesterday, despite falling, received a pair of goals out of freshman forward Chelsea Lafountain.
In between the crossbars in the win for the Lady Lakes was Kristy Kirkpatrick. The sophomore collected 4 saves in 90 minutes worth of action.
With the loss, North Country fell to 2-8 on the season. After playing what was their seventh consecutive road game on Sunday, the Lady Saints will return home for their next matchup, which is scheduled for this Saturday (10/6) when they take on Onondaga CC.
FLCC will also hit the field again on Saturday as well. They are slated to pair off with Jamestown CC on the road at 1:00 p.m.
