Women’s Soccer – Lady Lakers Shutout Jamestown CC-Olean on Road, 7-Nil
OLEAN, NY. – #2 nationally ranked Finger Lakes remained in western, NY on Sunday for its second consecutive away game. The Lady Lakers traveled to Olean where they took on Jamestown CC-Olean. Finger Lakes, playing its second to last road game in 2012, shutout the Lady Jaguars – 7-nil.
The Lady Lakers (14-0-1, 3-0 MSAC) tallied the win behind a plethora of Cayli Carmona goals. The sophomore notched a hat-trick of markers and in addition tacked on an assist in the meeting. With her 7 points, she continues to stand alone as the nation's top leading scorer. On the season, she has now racked up 78 points (26 goals and 26 assists).
Finger Lakes other four goals came from four different individuals. The members of the Lady Lakers roster credited with those goals were Kellie Brown, Sonia Gucciardo, Natasha Hyland, and Hannah Dalle. In addition to their helpers, Brown, Gucciardo, and Dalle, each doled out an assist on Sunday.
Freshman Dominique Berrafato contributed in Finger Lakes offense by dishing out a pair of assists. Rounding out the point's column for the Lady Lakers was Paige Smith. She finished the game with one assist.
In between the crossbars for Finger Lakes was sophomore Kristy Kirkpatrick. The second-year Lady Laker finished the contest with 5 saves. Overall, Finger Lakes outshot the Lady Jaguars, 27-5.
The Lady Lakers will return home for their next game, which is scheduled for tomorrow when they host #4 nationally ranked Alfred State College. The showdown is expected to get underway at 4:00 p.m.
