The Finger Lakes Community College women's soccer team dropped their season opener, 2-0, against the Hornets from Broome Community College on Wednesday, August 24.
Despite great play by the Lakers, they were unable to keep the Hornets out of the net. Broome took an early one goal lead in the 26th minute. The Lakers began pressing the Hornets backfield, getting off eight shots on goal, but were unable to finish. The Hornets expanded their lead after scoring for a second time in the 86th minute of play to seal up a victory. Sophomore goalkeeper Abigail Miller played all 90 minutes for the Lakers, recording 15 total saves on the day.
The Lakers will return to action on Wednesday, August 31 when they travel to Hudson Valley CC to face the Vikings. Kickoff is set for 3pm.
