CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. – The Finger Lakes Community College Women’s Soccer team was defeated by the Corning Community College Red Barons on Saturday. The Lakers lost 1-0 in double overtime.
The Lakers played a tough one against the Red Barons on Saturday. The first half started with a lot of shots from Corning. It took the Lakers some time to get into the game. Corning ended up out-shooting FLCC 19-9 in the first half.
The second half was still more Corning dominated. The Red Barons continued to out-shoot the Lakers. Laker’s Jessica Williams was getting a bunch of shots off but could not quite find the net. Both the Red Barons and the Lakers could not score and regulation ended 0-0.
Overtime was just as tough as the regulation time of the game. Corning out-shot FLCC again 3-0, but none of them found the back of the net.
Finally in double overtime there was a score. A few minutes in, the Red Barons were given a corner kick and Emily Smith managed to slip it past Laker’s goal keeper, Isabella Prest.
Game leaders for the Lakers were Colby Kutzer with 6 shots, and Prest with 19 saves.
The Lakers play next at home against the Niagara County Community College Thunderwolves. They will play at 5:00pm.
