Lady Lakers Fall to Niagara County Community College in Regional Semi-Finals

Sanborn, NY – The FLCC women's volleyball team fell to Niagara County Community College on Sunday (10/30) in the NJCAA Region III Division III Championship semi-finals (held at Niagara County Community College), 25-22, 18-25, 18-25, and 26-28. The Lady Lakers (30-12), who finished the season with their best record in school history, were led by 2011 All-Tournament and 1st Team All-Region selectee Alysha LaDuke (Livonia) in the loss. The outside hitter finished a successful 2011 freshman campaign by posting 17 digs, 14 kills, and 4 aces. Freshman middle hitter Jordan Smith (Lyons) poured in 17 digs and 11 kills for FLCC. Sophomore middle hitter Taylor Ryan (Victor) recorded 10 digs, 10 kills, and 3 blocks for the Lady Lakers. Ryan, like LaDuke, was also voted to both the All-Tournament and All-Region (2nd Team) teams. Talented freshman opposite hitter Jessica Granger (Letchworth) added 21 assists and a pair of blocks for FLCC. The Lady Lakers will look to continue building upon a successful 2011 season in 2012.
