The Finger Lakes Community College women's volleyball team is seeking a return to the NJCAA Region III tournament, and the Lakers will open the 2017 season on the road against Onondaga Community College Aug. 29.
The Lakers will compete in the annual Jefferson Community College Invitational Sept. 2 before welcoming JCC to campus for the home opener, at 6 p.m. Sept. 6.
The first of five Region III pods occurs Sept. 9, with FLCC traveling to Adirondack CC. Following a Sept. 12 match at Cayuga CC, FLCC will host a Region III pod Sept. 16 vs. Cayuga CC, JCC, and OCC, and will welcome Corning CC to campus Sept. 20.
After Genesee CC hosts a Region III pod Sept. 23, FLCC will host its final match of the fall when SUNY Broome CC comes to Canandaigua Sept. 27 on Sophomore Night.
Among the rest of the scheduled matches, FLCC will travel to Fulton-Montgomery CC for a pod Sept. 30, to OCC for the Cara Bryant Memorial Tournament Oct. 7, and to Monroe CC for a pod Oct. 14.
FLCC ends the regular season at MCC Oct. 18 before the postseason MSAC (Oct. 21) and Region III Tournaments (Oct. 28) begin.
The Lakers went 19-11 overall and earned an appearance in the NJCAA Region III tournament in 2016. The Lakers were perfect at home, winning all six of their matches.
