Lakers Fall to Corning in Three Sets

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. – The Finger Lakes Community College Women’s Volleyball team fell to the Corning Community College Red Barons this past Wednesday. The Lakers lost 3-0.

In the first set, the Red Barons started it off with a lot of errors that the Lakers took advantage of. Soon enough Corning found their way back into the lead. The Lakers came back from a big deficit, but it was then lost because of FLCC errors. The Lakers lost this set 16-25.

The second set was very similar to the first. There was a fluctuation of both teams being in the lead. The Lakers tied the game up and then fell behind again. The Red Barons won the second set on an FLCC net violation. The score was 18-25.

The third and final set was an exciting one. The Lakers found themselves behind right off the bat. They fought and came back to a tie and it became a dead even set. Both teams put up a great fight. Corning won on two out of bounds hits from the Lakers. It ended in a close 23-25.

Game leaders for the Lakers were Lindsay Howell with 8 kills, and 3 blocks, Alyssa Fox with 7 kills and 8 digs, and Megan Gass with 19 digs.

The Lakers traveled next to Genesee Community College Saturday September 23rd for a Region III POD. They played Jamestown Community College, Erie Community College, and Niagara County Community College.
