CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. – The Finger Lakes Community College Women’s Volleyball team triumphed over Jefferson Community College this past Wednesday. The Lakers played all 5 sets, coming back from behind to win 3-2. It was an exciting win.
In the first match, Jenna Relyea started off the game strong with a few service aces. They started out ahead and then fell behind. The Cannoneers had match point at the end, and the Lakers had a small comeback. The comeback was not enough and the Cannoneers won the first match, 25-21.
The Lakers came closer to winning the second match. They were coming back and tied it up at 23-23. The Cannoneers pulled ahead, and then a timeout was called. The Lakers had the serve, and it went over the back line and the Cannoneers won the second match 25-23.
The third match ended in the Laker’s favor. They knew they had to play strong so they could stay in the game. The Lakers came onto the court in full attack mode. They were aggressive to begin and started off in the lead. The Lakers ended up pulling out the 25-16 win.
The fourth match became very intense. Both teams were out for the win. It was so close, the game ended in a 26-24 win for FLCC.
For the fifth and final match, FLCC was triumphant and won 15-10 on sophomore, Lindsay Howell’s point.
The Lakers play next at the SUNY Adirondack Region III POD this Saturday. The Lakers will play at 10:00am, 11:45am, and 4:00pm. They will face Adirondack Community College, North Country Community College, and Hudson Valley Community College.
