Jordan Smith, Volleyball

Smith, a sizzling sophomore on the hardwood, discovers the Spotlight this week after turning in a recent string of solid performances for the Lady Lakers in matches against the likes of Niagara County CC, Jamestown CC, Erie CC, and Cayuga CC. In total, the outside hitter accumulated 58 kills and 37 digs in the four matches. On the season, Smith, a native of Lyons, NY, has registered 208 kills and 211 digs in 61 sets. She is currently ranked 7th and 9th in the region in kills per set (3.41 average) and digs per set (3.46) respectively.

Smith and the Lady Lakers recently played in three matches against Niagara County, Jamestown, and Erie (all of which were played at Erie) on Saturday, 9/22. In the opener against then #7 nationally ranked Niagara County, she was credited with 9 kills. The second-year member of Finger Lakes roster then proceeded to produce 14 kills, 3 aces, and 20 digs in the Lady Lakers meeting with Jamestown. In the day’s final contest, which consisted of Finger Lakes taking on Erie, Smith posted 15 kills. Despite falling in all of these matches, Smith was consistently a solid force on the court all day long.

Lastly on Wednesday, 9/19, she came ready to play yet again. This time, the Lady Lakers gathered a victory – which came at home over Cayuga (conference member). In the win, Smith came up large by delivering 20 kills and 17 digs for the hosts.
