As a three-sport star athlete and academic standout in high school at Red Jacket: Sanders was a key member of the varsity football, men’s basketball, and baseball teams all while being a National Honor Society inductee. Most notably, Sanders was voted Red Jacket Athlete of the Year during his senior year for his all-around excellent play as an athlete. As a member of the basketball team, he was twice voted the team’s Most Outstanding player. He was also chosen First Team All-League for his standout play as a basketball player. Coach Jones is excited to have an athlete of Sanders caliber on the team. He points to his size and outstanding resume as an athlete in high school as signs of him becoming a key piece to the Lakers success in 2011-12 and beyond. The freshman is currently majoring in childhood education.
