Strait, for the Second Consecutive Year, Earns All-Conference Honors
CANANDAIGUA – Casi Strait, a consistent scorer and playmaker on the basketball court for the Lady Lakers this season, has been named to the 2012-13 Mid-State Athletic Conference All-Conference team. Recently selected as Conference Player of the Year for the 2012-13 season, the sophomore shooting guard averaged 21.3 points per game in 12 MSAC games this season. Her scoring average – at the end of conference play – stood atop of the MSAC.
Selected as Conference Player of the Week for the week of 1/14, Strait helped lead Finger Lakes to a 10-2 record in the MSAC this year. In addition to being solo Conference Player of the Week, the pure scorer was named Co-MSAC Player of the Week for the week of 2/11. To go along with her scoring average, Strait was third and fourth in three-point field goal percentage and free throw percentage respectively in conference play. From beyond the arc, she shot 38.6 percent while from the free throw line; she was an 86 percent shooter.
Strait's greatest offensive game in the conference this season came on 2/13 in a Lady Lakers 86-60 home win over Cayuga CC. In that contest, she dropped in a game-high 31 points on 13-21 shooting. Strait registered 20 or more points in 6 of the 12 conference games she played in this season.
