Lakers Drop Game to Regional Opponent

SANBORN, N.Y. - The Finger Lakes Community Women's Basketball team struggled to find any rhythm in their matchup with the Thunderwolves of Niagara County Community College Wedneday night. The Lakers fell in a lopsided match, 108-36 to the 9-3 Thunderwolves. The Lakers loss drops them to 2-9, suffering their 7th-straight loss.

Freshman Hayley Andersen (Penn Yan, N.Y./ Penn Yan) led the Lakers on offense with 16 points, 2 assists and 2 offensive rebounds. On defense Andersen grabbed 2 steals, 5 defensive rebounds and swatted 1 shot in the proccess. Andersen along with Freshman Abby Nelson (North Rose, N.Y./ North Rose-Wolcott) played a full-game for the Lakers, logging 40 minutes on the court. 

Sophomore Izabella Santell (Newark, N.Y./ Newark) came in as the Lakers second leading scorer, adding 13 points on 5-16 shooting while dishing out an assist and 5 rebounds on the night. Freshman Alicia Morrison (Lyons, N.Y./ Lyons) added 3 points, 3 rebounds and 1 assist while teammate Ericka Moody (Lyons, N.Y./ Lyons) pulled down 7 rebounds on the night, while dishing out an assist and grabbing a steal on defense.

The Lakers conclude the first-half of their regular season, currently sitting at 2-9. The Lakers await their next matchup in the New Year on January 6th, when SUNY Broome Community College comes to FLCC's Putt Moore Gymnasium in a Region III, Mid-State Athletic Conference matchup with the Hornets.
