Lakers Fall in Season Opener
ARNOLD, MD. – Leading 8-6 with less than two minutes to play in the game, the Finger Lakes Community College Lakers (0-1, 0-0 MSAC) failed to hold on for the win today in their first game of the 2012 season. The Lakers fell to Anne Arundel (Maryland) on the road in overtime, 9-8. Despite the loss, the Lakers saw positive signs in today's game that point to the team potentially having a successful season.
Freshman midfielder Jack Timerson (Newark, NY) highlighted the afternoon for Finger Lakes by scoring a hat-trick (3 goals) and delivering 2 assists.
Sophomore attackman Steve Campaniello (Rochester, NY) contributed a 4-point effort for the Lakers today by pouring in 2 goals and 2 assists.
A trio of sophomores, (attackman) Josh Taylor (Calgary, AB), (midfielder) Parker Weeks (Canandaigua, NY), and (defenseman) Chris Tauterouff (Canandaigua, NY) each added 1 goal apiece for Finger Lakes in the losing effort.
Freshman goalie John Perrucci (Myrtle Beach, SC) tallied 11 saves in 62:45 worth of action for the Lakers in the net.
Finger Lakes will play its next game this Saturday (3/3) on the road against Brookdale Community College (New Jersey) at 2:00 p.m. The site of the game will take place at the United States Military Academy in West Point, NY.
