Lakers Fall to #7 Nationally Ranked Brookdale

WEST POINT, NY. – Tied 3-3 at halftime, the Finger Lakes Community College Lakers (0-2, 0-0 MSAC) played a competitive first half in today's game against the nation's seventh ranked team in Brookdale Community College (of New Jersey). The game, held at a neutral site (West Point, NY), featured a 14-goal run in the second half by Brookdale. Needless to say, Brookdale capped off there second half offensive outburst with a victory, defeating the Lakers by a score of 17-4.

Despite the loss, the Lakers had several encouraging highlights on both the offensive and defensive ends of the field this afternoon. Josh Taylor (sophomore, attack, Calgary, AB Canada) highlighted Finger Lakes offense by registering a pair of goals.

Cale Giese (freshman, attack, Kamloops, BC Canada) also poured in a 2-point game for the Lakers by scoring 1 goal and handing out 1 assist.

Jack Timerson (freshman, midfield, Newark, NY) registered his 4th goal of the season for the Lakers in the loss.

Albert Thompson (freshman, midfield, Medina, NY) and RJ Bailey (sophomore, midfield, Warsaw, NY) each contributed 1 assist apiece for Finger Lakes.

On the defensive end of the field, Chris Tauterouff (sophomore, defense, Canandaigua, NY) played a solid game for the Lakers by scooping up 5 ground balls.

In goal, John Perrucci (freshman, goalie, Myrtle Beach, SC) played a significant portion of the game for Finger Lakes, splitting time with Nate Gardner (freshman, goalie, Newark, NY).  On the afternoon, Perrucci delivered 17 saves and allowed 12 goals. Gardner added 1 save while allowing 5 goals.

The Lakers will be back in action this Wednesday (3/7) when they take on County College of Morris (of New Jersey). The game will be held at Tompkins-Cortland Community College (neutral site) at 4:00 pm.
