Giese Highlights Lakers With 6 Goals In Win

DRYDEN, NY. – The Finger Lakes Community College Lakers (1-2, 0-0 MSAC) picked up their first win of 2012 today by downing County College of Morris (of New Jersey) by a score of 15-12. The game, which was held at Tompkins-Cortland Community College (neutral site), was highlighted by the offensive play of Lakers attackman Cale Giese (freshman, Kamloops, BC Canada). On the afternoon, Giese tallied 6 goals and dished out 2 assists. Right behind Giese in the scoring column for Finger Lakes was Josh Taylor (attackman, sophomore, Calgary, AB Canada). Taylor finished the game with 4 goals. He and Giese are now tied for the team lead in goals scored on the season with 7 each.

Promising Lakers freshman midfielder Jack Timerson (Newark, NY) continued his solid early season play by scoring 2 goals and handing out 2 assists in the win. Another midfielder, Matt Fuller (freshman, Medina, NY), also tacked on 2 goals (as well as 1 assist) for Finger Lakes. Rob Pelkey (midfielder, freshman, Fairport, NY) rounded out today's goal scorers for the Lakers by contributing 1 goal.

Steve Campaniello (attackman, sophomore, Rochester, NY) poured in 2 assists for Finger Lakes, sharing team-high honors with Giese and Timerson on the afternoon. Albert Thompson (midfielder, freshman, Medina, NY) and Chris Tauterouff (defenseman, sophomore, Canandaigua, NY) each added 1 assist apiece for the Lakers.

In goal, John Perrucci (goalie, freshman, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina) made 14 stops in 60 minutes worth of action for Finger Lakes.

The Lakers will be back in action this Saturday (3/10) for a road matchup against Mohawk Valley Community College. Game time is slated for 1:00 pm.
