Lacrosse - Lakers Fall On Road To Mercyhurst North East, 10-7
NORTH EAST, PA. – The Finger Lakes Community College Lakers (5-6, 2-0 MSAC) dropped their second consecutive game today by falling to the Mercyhurst North East Saints on the road, 10-7.
The Lakers jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in today's contest and managed to hold the Saints to no goals in the first period. Mercyhurst responded with four goals in the second and held a 4-2 lead heading into the third. The Saints again outscored the Lakers in the third by outdueling them 3-2. Finger Lakes played a very competitive fourth, showing no quit late in the game. The Lakers found the back of the net three times in the fourth. However, there three goals were not sufficient enough to amount a comeback. Mercyhurst tacked on three goals of their own in the fourth to secure the victory.
In a losing effort, Finger Lakes received goals from five of its players this afternoon. Matt Fuller (Medina, NY) and Steve Campaniello (Rochester, NY) both highlighted the Lakers offense by scoring two goals apiece. Finger Lakes also received one goal each from Cale Giese (Kamloops, BC), Rob Pelkey (Fairport, NY), and Albert Thompson (Medina, NY). Jack Timerson (Newark, NY) added a pair of assists for the Lakers in the loss.
In goal, John Perrucci (Myrtle Beach, SC) tallied 19 saves in 60 minutes worth of action for Finger Lakes.
The Lakers will look to rebound on Saturday (4/7) when they take on Harford Community College (of Bel Air, MD) on the road. Faceoff is slated for 1:00 pm.
